The HART protocol utilizes the Bell202 Frequency Shift Keying (FSK) standard to superimpose a modulated digital signal on top of a 4 to 20 mA base. This enables HART protocol instruments to maintain bidirectional data communication without interfering with the 4 to 20 mA analog signal.
